October 7th changed the face of Israeli society in one morning. Although the Israel-Germany youth exchange has already faced security challenges in the past, their impact on Israeli society was not as decisive and immediate as October 7th. How do you create a meeting between youth and young adults from Israel and Germany after such a disaster, and against the backdrop of war? What can you talk about? How do you make room for a complex conversation that also allows for criticism of Israel? These are just some of the questions we had to deal with, and are still dealing with.
