Language training
The language qualification is an important part of your preparation for your volunteer service. Please take this preparation very seriously! The more language skills you can gather in advance, the easier it will be for you to start your service. We strongly recommend that you prepare yourself as intensively as possible.
ASF or the partner organisations will support you if you have to learn a new language because you are going to a certain country. If there is no language course organised centrally by ASF or no support from partner organisations, you can receive a maximum of 150 euros as a grant for individual courses on presentation of receipts. However, this only applies if it is necessary for you to learn a language from scratch for your volunteering placement.
If your service is funded through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) programme, a different rule applies. The ESC provides you with a language tool online. You are obliged to take a language test via this online tool before the start of your service and at the end of your service. If the language of your assignment country is taught via the language tool, you are not entitled to additional financial support for your language courses from ASF.
