Prevention of sexualized violence
The work of Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste is carried out in an effort to ensure non-discriminatory coexistence, which is intended to protect all people at ASF from sexist, sexualized, anti-Semitic, racist or other exclusionary and derogatory attacks, assaults and insults.
Prevention of sexualized violence
It is the responsibility and obligation of all employees to exemplify these values and to intervene in cases of discrimination or to seek support if necessary. We want to do everything we can to protect the volunteers, program participants and full-time and honorary staff entrusted to our care from violence, insults, exclusion, injury and harm.
At ASF, we take the prevention of sexualized violence very seriously and want to signal to all participating people that sexualized violence is not tolerated and that there is partiality towards those affected by sexualized violence. Volunteers are made aware of the need to be vigilant against sexualized assaults and informed about contact persons and persons of trust. Various measures are implemented to prevent sexualized violence:
- Regular qualification and training of employees
- Raising awareness of sexualized assaults among summer camp team leaders and ASF seminar participants Thematization and information through fact sheets, identification of contact persons and supporters
- External persons of trust as contact persons
- Declaration of commitment for employees
- Declaration of commitment for honorary teamers
- Raising awareness among those responsible at the volunteer’s place of assignment
- Support and partiality for those affected
Information for victims of sexualized violence
We cannot rule out the possibility that people have experienced sexualized violence in the past, including in the context of ASF. We express our deep regret when sexualized assaults have occurred, when too little has been done to prevent them and when reports and information from those affected have not been dealt with appropriately.
We are available to people who have experienced assaults in connection with ASF and would like to talk about them as contact persons and for support. We are impartial with victims of sexualized violence.
All conversations are confidential and those affected decide for themselves what they want to say and whether steps should be taken for further prosecution. If the external person of trust is approached, no information will be passed on to ASF unless the person concerned wishes this and agrees to it.
