Social internship
An important experience on the way to your voluntary service
Preparing for your voluntary service #MitASF includes a social work placement of at least two weeks. All volunteers do it after they have signed their contract and before they leave in September. All volunteers should do an internship in a social institution, even if the future volunteer position is in another field of activity, such as education or public relations.
We recommend all future volunteers to work in areas that are still very unfamiliar or where there are fears of contact. Getting involved in something completely new and unknown, overcoming one’s own limitations, is a good exercise for the upcoming volunteer service. Placements can be, for example, residential facilities or day centres for people with disabilities, projects for the elderly or initiatives to support homeless people. Participation in certain ASF summer camps is also recognised as an internship.
